How to find a job if you don’t want a career.

Not everyone needs to have a career or vocation. Perhaps you just want a job which makes you some money– here are my tips on how to find that.

Reasons why you might just want a job

There are many reasons people may not want a career.

Your family might be your priority and work is a way to support yourself and your loved ones rather than your ‘calling’. Alternatively, you might not know what you want to do at the moment but need to work until you figure it out — everyone has bills to pay, right?

Maybe you have a dream career in mind but it will take you a while to make this a career- this could be in a creative industry such as acting or writing where you have to put in a lot of work first before making it a full time living. It could also be as simple as not wanting to be part of the corporate ‘rat race’ where many people are climbing the career ladder whilst coping with high-stress levels and spending a lot of time at work.

Personally, as someone who is pursuing writing and other freelance jobs I already have my dream career in mind. As most creative careers it can take you a while to get to where you want to go or at least until you can afford to just do the thing that you love. Until I get to the point where I can write full…
