Maybe An Office Job Isn’t For You
If office politics and fights over stationery don’t appeal to you office life might not be your cup of (cheap, bought in bulk) tea

Having worked in both retail and the office world I have first-hand experience of how workplaces differ vastly depending on the location. And whilst they both have their pros and cons office life can be strange.
If you’re job hunting at the moment and wondering where you want to be you might have considered office life. It seems nice enough, you get to spend time in one location, there’s usually free tea and coffee and in some (usually tech) jobs you might have a break room that looks more like an arcade. But instead of me telling you the positives, let me tell you some reasons an office job might not be for you…
You don’t like gossip
This is probably true of all jobs but I heard less gossip when I worked in retail. I was too busy stocking shelves and serving customers to find out about the latest ‘scandals’. I use that term loosely as office gossip is usually about the ‘thief’ who is using too much printer paper rather than anything interesting. Still, if you’re not a fan of petty drama stay clear of office life — what can I say bored people need a distraction.
